Sounds like your daddy might not have had the “facts of life” talk with you, so here is one of the “facts of life”: In today’s economy, very few (if any) reputable lenders are going to give someone with poor credit an unsecured loan, even for $ 1000. One reason, obviously, is that you have a poor credit history that has apparently not been offset by any recent good credit. Secondly, even though it’s only $ 1000 (no longer considered a very large loan), most lenders don’t make these loans because they are unprofitable. Reputable lenders are limited in the amount of interest they charge, and you just don’t earn enough on a $ 1000 loan to cover expenses and risk.

What you might be able to do is borrow against some type of collateral – your car, your house, etc. Or borrow from a family member, if you can.

I don’t know about the online loan services others have recommended. I would be wary of these. They are certainly not in the business to lose money, and unsecured loans are risky, so be prepared to pay a really high rate of interest if you are approved by one of these lenders.

If you are successful, pay your debt on time. This is the only way you can overcome a poor credit history. That’s another “fact of life”.

    Good Luck.

About the only place you might get a loan like you describe is from the bank of mom and dad.

Saying “please no scammers” isn’t going to deter them.
